Old Peckham Cat Park Intervention

How can we intervene in the history and architecture of the Old Peckham Cat Park? What happens when we create a new tradition at the park with an existing history?

Year: 2023
Category: Interactive Design, Experiential, Student Work
Designers: Nayra Jayanegara, Emilie, Thomas, Elizabeth, Leandra, Jade, Skylar, Anne

Solution

As we enter the park, we couldn’t see the cats which were part of the history and architect of this public space. Determined to celebrate their significance, we orchestrated 'The Peckcatism Ceremonial Festival.' We created a whole new religion, our ceremonies in this public space invite everyone to embrace and honor the charming cats within.

Anticipated Impact(s)

Making people appreciate the existing environment, to look around at the natural world on earth. Intervening people’s day-to-day life. The design allows people to appreciate the connections between themselves and nature; fostering greater connections to the natural world.
